Here at Greenwood RV Rentals & Sales, we’re big fans of Turkey Run State Park in Marshall, IN. You only have to drive about two hours to feel like you’ve really escaped city life and to enjoy quality outdoor recreation. In fact, here are our top-five favorite things to do when camping at Turkey Run.
Turkey Run is a prime location for canoeing down scenic Sugar Creek. People come from all over to launch their canoes and enjoy a day on the water. If you don’t have your own canoe, you can easily rent one.
You wouldn’t expect to find such great trails right here in Indiana. But the hiking trails at Turkey Run give larger, more well-known parks a run for their money. None of the trails are very long, but most of them are fairly rugged, so be sure to bring good shoes and plenty of water to drink.
You can’t take a dip in Sugar Creek for safety reasons, but you can enjoy cooling off in the park’s Olympic-size swimming pool. Lifeguards are on duty, but note that children under the age of 12 must be properly supervised.
4. Horseback Riding
Take a guided horseback tour on one of Turkey Run’s picturesque bridle trails. You can enjoy the beauty of the park from a new perspective (and without completely wearing out your legs from hiking). The saddle barn is open April through October.
We’d be remiss if we didn’t include the campground on our list of must-do things at Turkey Run. Their campground has 213 Class A modern sites as well as restrooms, showers, and a camp store. The sites are perfect for any of our motorhome, travel trailer, or pop-up camper rentals.
